Hi Folks - this will be a good space to share the news of the Rwanda Trip. We meet each week and discuss the plans.

I will atempt to provide a weekly update so that you can share the experience as we plan and stress about the fundraising etc.

At present the lads are planning a canoe trip , I am undertaking the awful task of losing weight and Glen is in training for his Triathalon!!! Douglas is planning on taking folks up mountains and hopefuly bringing them back down again and Crawford is looking out all his old reciepes so that he can get his curry nights underway.

I have included a lovely picture of the team and also one of Kigali in Rwanda as a taster. I have only photographed the young folks as i dont want to scare any potential blog spot viewers.

Hi folks its a long time since i have put anything on this site and a lot of vey exciting things have been happening over the holidays. Lots of you were at SU Camp and had a lot of fun and also a chance to grow in your faith. Soul survivor was pretty special as well and 'most' people who journey'd to shepton mallet had a 'braw' time even although the weather was poor. Holiday club was fantastic this year and the youth helpers worker hard. Here are some photos to remember the holidays.

Hi Folks remember that the holiday club starts on Monday 30th July. If you are a helper thanks for agreeing to serve in this way if you are S1 then it would be great to see you bring along a few friends to the xChange group which should be exciting.
For all there is a ceildh on Wednesday evening at cross house St Michaels 7.30pm bring a friend and be prepared to dance the night away.

Day at the beach

To celebrate the fourth of July a trip to the beach is in order. Please come along and join us. We leave from Union Road (near the car park) at 1pm and will be home early evening. Bring your beach type things but make sure you check the weather and wear warm clothes if needed. (scottish summers agh!) Sand castle competition with prizes!! Can't miss out on that.

Our lads did us proud on Sunday beating the Motherwell King's Church team 8-2. They also behaved extreemly well and I am so encouraged by the way the team communicated and played as a team. They were a brill representation of St John's. Well done!

Hi Folks,

i hope you all had a braw time during the holidays - i know you will struggle to go back to school on monday.
Sunday the church programme is back to normal with YPG and YF at their groups. Marco will be starting back with Revelation chapter 4 and I will be looking at 'what is perfect' to start the year on the right foot.
SILT will be on in the evening for all high school folks to attend. It is in cross house again starting 7.30 and finishing at 9.30. Please get dropped off and collected. It would be great to see you all there and start the year off with a brill event.

Oh and btw i must mention that in the lads and dads footie the lads won - 2-1 with Stuart Murdoch scoring our 2 andGLEN (yes that is right) scoring the dad's 1.

Nativity Sunday

i am blown away by how FANTASTIC you all were on sunday. Callum and Madeline were a lovely couple with expert dancing skills leading the wonderful YPG. I especially loved the ending with the boys sliding across the floor and Marco and Kenny's chat. The YF girls kept the youngsters in order very well and 'lean on me' was such a brill ending to the day. Narrators thanks for being so clear. Mega thanks to Glen for tying it all together so well linking it all in and sharing the message of the boy, saviour, friend that is Jesus. You were all fab! Have a brill Christmas.

All the tickets are now sold for the panto - 44 of us are travelling by coach to Edinburgh kings theatre leaving from the cross at 6pm returning around about 10pm. Hi, Thanks to all who joined us last friday for a bit of laserquesting.....As usual David Cubitt and Jonothan Truselove came in with the winning scores with Graeme Cormack and Peter Irwin showing their strength on the second game. Heather and Fiona doing well to even be there. Fiona actually managing a record breaking -806......yes that is a negative in front of the score!!!! (She gets her sporting talent from her father.) It was brill to see so many friends and i think everyone felt very welcomed and part of the evening. Mention must be made of Billy and Lorraine's table football effort. WOW. Still unbeaten - that is a challenge for next time!

Hi Guys, An update as to what is happening on sunday. The YF will be in the service sharing in communion and I am responsible for the YPG teaching. In the evening there will be a bus running to Airdrie Evangelical Church to join them in supporting Joni, Steven & Becky' as they get baptised. There is also fireworks at the rugby club which I am sure many of you will want to enjoy. Glen is also speaking in the evening at St John's, sharing some of what happened in Laos.

BTW thanks to all who are bringing friends to church, please keep doing this as I love the opportunity to meet them.

Just an update on the details for the baptisms. The girls are going to be baptised on Sunday 19th November in the evening. The service will be held in the academy assembly hall and a temporary tank will be used. Please keep that date free as it would be great to see all the young people in St Johns support Abi, Shona and Sammy as they follow God's comand.

Hi Guys, YF were supposed to be having a tea and toast night on 5th November however as you will be aware that is fireworks night! Some of you will be wanting to go and see the firework display at the Rugby club and also there is a Baptism at Airdire for some of the encounters folk so a few of you will want to go and support them. This weekend i am at faskally with some of the YF at the 'encounters' camp. There are 72 young people going to be at camp so please pray that all goes well and that they learn more about God.

A forward notice for all YPG & YF. We are hosting Encounters next month. The date is 14th October and the venue is St Michael's Church halls. I am aware that a few of you will be on hols that week but i would appreciate as many as possible to be at the event to support the home church. We we have now had our first social evenings of the year and it has been lovely spending time getting to know the new faces. I have been delighted at the way in which the new YPG and the new YF have slotted in to the groups so well and thanks to the existing group members for making them feel so welcome.
This weekend coming is a quiet one for me however we are all together on sunday for a practice and review before taking the service on the 8th.

Thanks for behaving so well at the Cubitts and the Gilmores I hope they will have us back!

What a fab day last saturday we had great fun at strathclyde park watching the fit folk from St John's and elsewhere run a 10K race and then danced about worshiping God for an afternoon. Her is some proof of the good fun we had! thanks to those who came along.

Friday 15th September. Come along and join me at the Glo Centre Motherwell to watch the football skills of Al Johnstone, hear the amazing testimony of a teenager who went the wrong way in life but is now a Christian singer, Gary Brotherstone.
We will be leaving St John's at 6.30 and will return home around about 10.30ish. The evening is free so that is very good value for money!!!!!

Football time again - First game is against LYPP on saturday at 10am. Linlithgow leisure centre outdoor 7 a-side. Crawford has been training a group during the summer but i'm sure we can beat them. The strips have been ordered and look great with the sponsor name on the front. They should be ready for the next game. I plan to organise at least one game per month against a visiting team and possible one game against either the oldies or young ones from the church per month. Hi just to let you know that Fiona McIntosh is being baptised on saturday evening. If you would like to come along and share the experience please let me know as I am arranging to take the mini bus. We will be leaving from st Johns at 6.15 and will be going to my house after for some pizza etc.
It is a good idea to think again about baptism for yourself - what do you think about it - would you like to be baptised - are you ready to make that commitment? Speak to me about it.

Hi all don't want to rub it in or anything but I am off on hols tomorow. Yeassss!!!!
Pam/Gillian will be looking after you this week and next week it will be Linda/John.
I will miss you all loads and will pray for you all daily.
Remember to listen well and make the new young ones feel welcomed. Try to think about the parables we are bringing to you each week. Almost everytime I read a parable God tells me, or shows me something in it I haven't noticed before that's what keeps them exciting. Take care and keep close to God.

Time Capsule outing - YF & YPG

I plan take a group to the time capsule on Tuesday evening leaving at 6pm from Union Road and returning 10.30ish. You can choose to either swim or ice skate (If you are in doubt I would choose swimming as it is great at the time capsule with lots of good flumes etc) It will cost £5. Come along and join the fun

Hi, Looking forward to the visit to Alton Towers. We meet at Olivet Evangelical Church Falkirk for games, pizza etc from 9pm onwards. We depart from Falkirk 12.30am (ish) and spend the Saturday in the park. we hope to be home by 11pm on the saturday evening. Remember to take munchies for the bus and a change of clothes. cya.

Footie - World Cup

It's here at last - I need to get my essay's done so that I can watch mega footie on telly.
Launch party for the world cup is happening - Friday evening arrive at Powerstation at 4.30/4.45 and we will watch the first game together on the big screen.

This is not drop in for LYPP.This is for St John's folk and the wednesday footie guys only!!!!
Thoose who don't 'do' footie don't despair you can still hang out with us. Play a bit of pool listen to some music in the chill out area or have a jammin session in the music room.
I will provide the food and Billy Fraser is providing the entertainment!

Frenzy!!!!

Hi Folks,

I have given all the tickets out for Frenzy - so if you have one then you will already know the details. A small reminder is possibly a good idea though.
We leave from Union Road at 11.30 and travel by Mini bus or car to the event in Edinburgh. It is difficult to say when we will be back as there is no finish time on the tickets - we will drop you all home and we will be late!!! (10ish/11ish at a guess).
Please bring eats and drinks with you and a warm jacket in case it gets cold.
